2015 the Year of Change

Change is in the air for 2015! We're already 3 months into 2015 but better late than never for this post. I'm one of those people that doesn't like change but the truth is change isn't always in our control!

This year started out with the possibility of Babe and I having to move into an apartment out in the boonies because it's all we'd be able to afford. R's girlfriend B got into a college nearby (I use that term loosely it's within an hour drive) and she wanted a place closer to school and only with R. She wasn't able to get a place. So thankfully we ended up not having to move and gained another roommate instead! R's girlfriend B and her dog Henry Buggins now live with us. That journey has had it's ups and it's downs. Though I try not to complain too much because I'm no longer lonely during the day as Buggins keeps me company and we didn't have to move!!

Not long after she moved in with us B decided she wanted to do a cleanse diet. I was already concerned about how the meal plans would go over with her and about our eating schedule. We don't really have one we eat when I make the food or when we're hungry which could be as late as midnight some nights. She wanted to eat dinner around 6 pm every night which doesn't seem like a problem for some people especially for those of us that don't have a job like me except I have some serious time management issues! I've been working on the 6 pm goal for the last two months and pride myself whenever I get dinner made before 7 pm! It's only happened a handful of times though. Anyways back to the cleanse. The Cleanse B wanted to do was a 21 Day Cleanse which included no meat, no dairy, was gluten-free and restricted several other dietary areas. At first I was very apprehensive about her cleanse as all of the recipes overwhelmed me but then after actually looking into it, reading the recipes and finding out I wouldn't be paying for it I was really excited! I asked B if I could cook/prep her meals for her and she said yes! One of my New Year's Resolutions or lifestyle changes as I prefer to call them was to expand my cooking abilities and to cook outside of my comfort zone. I have a very tight comfort zone not just of foods I like to cook but for those foods that I like to eat. The one thing I was most excited about when it came to helping with her cleanse was being able to try my hand at cooking new-to-me foods and not having to eat them! I learned how to prepare avacado, ginger, spinach, kale, beets and other healthy foods I don't like or have never tried. I even learned how to make hummus which was NOT a fun experience as I don't have a real blender just a Bella Magic Bullet type of Blender. The hummus was too thick and covered me in chickpeas which not only smell but are mushy and I do NOT do mushy! Since that interesting experience I've gotten a new-to-me blender and am hoping my next experience in making hummus is less traumatizing! B only ended up doing 2 of her 3 week Cleanse but I'm proud of her nevertheless! I know I wouldn't have been able to make it that far! Needless to say it was an interesting journey one I was happy I didn't have to make alone! After her cleanse B has been giving me more opinions and helping me with my meal plans which I truly appreciate.

One of my other New Year's Lifestyle Change Goals was to become a healthier person. I've started working out nearly every night.I prefer to workout around 11 pm to 3 am because the gym at our apartment complex is always deserted and I can blast my music. I like to use a few different apps on my phone to workout to. I use the Daily Workouts FREE app every other day for an arm workout. I also use the 30 Day Back Challenge Free, 30 Day Ab Challenge Free and the 30 Day Butt Challenge Free Apps for an overall body workout! I find that my back, my abs, my butt and my arms are some of my problem areas. I really can't stand working out but I also can't stand being overweight! I often remind myself that the pain and energy it takes to get healthy isn't as bad as the pain it takes being fat! I'm sick of being fat and for once I'm trying to do something about it! I'm hoping to eat healthier in the future too! One step at a time and one day at a time!

This year has brought about other changes too! On February 26th, 2015 my Gramma passed away. Yesterday March 9th was her birthday she would have been 87. I want to talk about her more in depth and I will in another post when I'm ready!

I'll say it again: 2015 is the year of Change! Good Changes and Bad Changes I'm sure 2015 will have it all! Only time will tell what the rest of this year will hold!

What Changes has 2015 brought for you so far?

Until Next Time! Stay Beautiful :)
